5Do Not Use This Heater In A BATHROOM
By David R. Purnell
Lasko Heater Model 5409 is the newer version of its predecessor, Model 5429 (according to Amazon; which I don't dispute).BELOW, is my review of Lasko Model 5429. The info about Lasko Model 5429 also pertains to its successor, Model #5409.SHORT STORY: If you use either of these heaters in a bathroom, the life of the heater will definitely be shortened.I have owned two of these terrific little heaters -- Lasko "Oscillating Ceramic Heater Model 5429."HOWEVER, I have learned that the manufacturer states that this heater SHOULD NOT BE USED IN A BATHROOM. Not due to safety reasons, but FOR THIS REASON: The dampness/humidity from showers and tubs causes the heating element to corrode -- causing the heater to permanently stop working.I bought my second one of these heaters in July 2012, and on December 31, 2012 (6 months), the heater "died." Location where I used the heater: the BATHROOM.Here is the link to the Lasko website, and product info for "Oscillating Ceramic Heater Model 5429."[link not allowed by Amazon]On the page that comes up, there is a button, "User Manual."Click on that -- it brings up a PDF file (which you can download, or read online). On page 2 of the PDF, go to the second (smaller) "Warning" icon, and below it read item #15:"15. This Heater is not intended for use in wet or damp locations. This Heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations."There is a 3-year Manufacturer's Warranty. But, Amazon will not accept return of products whose Purchase Date is older than 30 days. Amazon Customer Service advised me to contact Lasko, which I did: Lasko Customer Service: 800-233-0268. Lasko has graciously consented to replace my heater this time, but they made sure I understand that using it in a bathroom will definitely shorten its life.HERE is a space heater that is made to work in bathrooms. In fact, it is named Holmes® Bathroom Heater, MODEL HFH436-NM. Note: Ignore the differing letters after HFH436; these two "models" are the same heater.Holmes HFH436WGL-U Heater Fan with Bathroom Safe PlugFYI: Holmes Customer Service, 800-545-5637It is available at many retail stores.Regarding this unit on Amazon: Holmes Customer Service (on 1/4/2013) told me that the model listed on Amazon -- Holmes® Bathroom Heater, MODEL HFH436WGL-U -- is the same as MODEL HFH436-NM.They are one and the same unit. I have just now (1/4/2013) placed an Amazon order for this bathroom heater.

3Nice but Noisy
By Anil Maheshwari
Ordered this product a couple of weeks ago. Looks very nice. Heat is effective. It also has a nice handle to carry it.However it makes as much noise as a hair dryer. Therefore is hard to keep it on for too long. Am considering returning the item.

5Works super well for a small thing!
By VTadmin
Bought this heater for our office spaces and these work so well! The heat coverage is great and it's a very simple, non complicated heater so the functions are simple, hi or low and fan. Temperatures are adjustable and simple dial too. The sound doesn't bother me or my coworkers, it's not that loud, you can hear it but it's not annoying or causing an increase in speaking volume. Someone said it's as loud as a hair dryer -- that is inaccurate and over exaggerated. It's a calming background noise. Definitely good when the office gets too quiet.I Love this heater and I hope it lasts me for next winter too if not, it's so decently priced, buying a new one isn't a problem! I recommend it!
